Broadcasting Loses a Legend: Harry Kalas Passes at 73

April 13, 2009 by joew

Phamous Phillies Broadcaster and the voice of NFL Films, Harry Kalas collapsed before Monday’s Phillies game against the Nationals and passed away shortly thereafter.

Kalas has long been one of the most recognizable voices in the world. He was the James Earl Jones of sports broadcasting. His deep voice and distinctive meter were instantly recognizable and instantly classic.

Phillies President and CEO David Montgomery said “we lost our voice.” It is another dark day for baseball. May he be remembered as one of the best ever.
